EA (Electronic Arts) held a launch party for The Simpsons Game at Universal City in Los Angeles on October 30th. In addition to a VIP party at the Hard Rock Cafe (after walking the yellow carpet), the public could come and demo the game at free playing stations outside. Fans could also purchase the game at EB Games, which stayed open late for the launch.
SCS staffer Jeremy Wilcox ('blueduck37') attended the launch party. EA really reached out to the Simpsons community for this game, working to make it as fan-friendly as possible (Matt Selman and other show writers helped craft the story and script). Selman was in attendance at the party, along with EA staff and game creators. And, of course, the creators of The Simpsons TV show-- Matt Groening and James L. Brooks-- addressed the crowd. Attendees of the party also had a chance to demo the game, with several stations set up throughout the restaurant.
It was definitely the coolest thing to happen at Universal City until the Simpsons ride opens next summer.
