Merchandise Releases:
World of Springfield

Released in USA by Playmates Toys

Previously cancelled, the Moe's Tavern interactive environment has been released as an EB/Diamond shared exclusive. It has been released in early 2003 and includes a Duffman figure. It is not a deluxe playset, and will work with the standard 30 to 40 figures, with three pegs.

A prototype version of the playset was on display at San Diego Comic Con 2002.

Here's the backstory on this set:

The Moe's Tavern Interactive Environment was one of the earlier rumored playsets. Mock-up artwork was shown at Toy Fair in Spring, 2000. The set probably would have come out in Series 2 or Series 3. The Moe figure was delayed through Series 1 and Series 2, possibly being held off to be included with this playset. Unfortunately, Playmates could not get approval to produce Moe's Tavern. VP of Boys Toys Jeff Trojan at Playmates told us that they "have repeatedly been denied approval for a Moe's interior environment." Whether this came from FOX or Matt Groening's office was not clear.
