The news was announced recently that Season 13 was coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on August 24th. Featuring Ralph on the cover (with a special alternate 'head box' as usual), the set will also feature the usual amount of great extras and commentaries that we have come to expect from these sets. But, perhaps, more excitingly, TV Squad brings the news that "fans will have the opportunity to score the set a full month earlier at San Diego Comic-Con July 22-25. Fans who purchase these early copies of the season set will also receive a collectible limited edition lithograph as a free gift." No details beyond that are known at this time.

For those attending the San Diego Comic Con next month, here is some additional news of interest... First and foremost, the Simpsons TV show panel will take place in Ballroom 20 on Saturday the 24th between 1:30 – 2:15pm. The time and date of the Bongo Comics panel will announced with the full schedule soon. The SCS will, of course, have its annual meet-up on Friday the 23rd at 6pm. However, we will not be meeting inside the convention center this year. Instead, we will be in the Santa Rosa Room at the Marriott Hotel & Marina right next door. Hope to see you then!

For those who missed it, 'The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special' is available for free viewing on Hulu.

This is a big week for Simpsons fans! This Sunday, the 450th episode (!) of our favorite family will air at 8pm on Fox. Could anything be cooler than that? Sure! Following the episode is an hour-long documentary, entitled 'The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special – In 3-D! On Ice!'. Directed by popular documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, the special sounds to be a very tongue-in-cheek love letter to the show, its fans, and its impact on pop culture. And you never know... a few familiar faces might pop up too!

While Fox has been slow with the promotion for the special (though there has been general hype of the 20th anniversary itself), it has received press from the Associated Press, the NY Times and other outlets.

Fox is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Simpsons, and this does mean some good news for collectors. Many have spent the last year chasing down a continuing series of anniversary PVCs by the Australia-based company, The Promotions Company. They are available to order online here.

The collection includes: Series 1 (Evergreen Terrace), Series 2 (Krusty Studios), Series 3 (Springfield Elementary), Series 4 (Nuclear Power Plant), Series 5 (Caped & Courageous), and Series 6 (The Way We Was). Additionally, there are specific anniversary sets for Season 1-10, and 11-20 (containing one figure each representing a particular season). Add them to your collection today!

As most collectors know, The Simpsons: The Complete Twelfth Season DVD set was released this past summer. The next planned DVD release is... The Simpsons: The Complete Twentieth Season? Yes, it is being released on DVD and Blu-Ray on January 20th (with no real extras).

Many fans are curious why Seasons 13-19 are being bypassed in favor of Season 20. While Fox has given no official explanation, the most obvious one is that Fox has released a rush Season 20 set because they are currently pushing the 20th anniversary of the show. We imagine that the following release will be Season 13, and will be back on track after that. We will post updates as we get them.
